ENGLISH VERSION
The “Lycée Wima” – of which the name signifies “standing up” – welcomes 2500 young girls from ages 4 to 18 years old. The “Soeurs de la Sainte Famille” who arrived in Congo in 1932, founded the high School, in 1936.  After 39 years the  school was taken over by the congolese state in 1973.  In 2004, the “Soeurs de la Sainte Famille” recuperated the school in a deplorable/terrible state.  They are now once again the owners and in charge of the Shool. The Sisters’ project is to provide the girls with the best possible education and to prepare them for a profession which will allow them once they are adults to provide for their families and their village.  The high School has 5 sections in the secondary level: general pedagogy, litterature, biochemistry, commercial and dressmaking (sewing and cutting) technique. After their school years, the pupils from these 5 sections can either take up a job or go to university.

Le Lycée Wima – dont le nom signifie « debout » - accueille 2.500  filles de 4 à 18 ans. Les Sœurs de la Sainte Famille, arrivées au Congo en 1932, ont fondé le Lycée en 1936. Après 39 ans, le Lycée a été repris par l’état congolais en 1973. En 2004, les Sœurs de la Sainte Famille récupèrent le Lycée dans un état déplorable. Elles en sont de nouveau les propriétaires et les responsables. Le projet des Sœurs est de fournir aux filles la meilleure éducation possible et de les préparer à un métier qui leur permette, à l’âge adulte, de subvenir aux besoins de leur famille et de leur village. Le Lycée propose 5 sections en son niveau secondaire : Pédagogie générale, Littéraire, Biochimie, Commerciale, et Technique Coupe et Couture. Après les années d’école, les élèves des 5 sections peuvent soit commencer à travailler, soit entrer à l’université.

The dressmaking section rallies 60 pupils from 15 to 18 years old, divided up in 4 classes ; the Minister of Education requires that the apprenticeship be with electric sewing machines for all technical sections, and the high school (voir le françaiss, il y a un petit problème dans le texte je pense qu’il doit manquer un mot ou deux) is lacking financial means for this purchase, futhermore,  frequent electricity cuts make the organisation of machine work very complicated, the present generating set is not powerful enough to supply electricity at the same time to the buildings, the classes, the computers, the sewing machines and the irons. It is possible to find in Bukavu second-hand sewing machines, but very few and the equipment is not very reliable, and the servicing is difficult (no spare parts). The dressmaking classes are lacking in everything, from machines, to threads, needles, irons and ironing boards.
